Jones snags first win of season
It took into the wee hours of the morning for Erik Jones to collect his first checkered flag of the season, clinching his playoff spot just two weeks before they begin.
Jones surged late in the Bojangles' Southern 500, holding off teammate Kyle Busch, who led 118 of the 367 laps and finished third. Kyle Larson was the runner-up for his fourth podium finish of the year. Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Sunday for the regular-season finale and plenty of eyes will be on Daniel Suarez and Ryan Newman, who are tied with 617 points. Suarez currently sits in the bubble position with the tiebreaker over Newman.
