UTEP Falls 28-21 to 49ers - Recap
Chris Reynolds sliced and diced the Miners defense for 354 yards as Charlotte handed UTEP a 28-21 defeat on Saturday at Sun Bowl.
The 49ers won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -12.0-point spread. UNDER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an UNDER play.
Chris Reynolds completed 24 of 35 pass attempts for 354 yards for the 49ers in the win.
Kai Locksley rushed for 84 yards for UTEP, while Treyvon Hughes added 48 yards. Kai Locksley threw for 215 yards for the Miners, while receivers Jacob Cowing and Justin Garrett had 145 and 40 yards respectively.
UTEP lost the offensive yardage battle to Charlotte 483-389 yards in Saturday's game. Charlotte had more first downs as that total ended up 22-17.
Charlotte led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 31:41-28:19 split in that important category.
Next game, Charlotte takes its act home to face Marshall looking for another win. For UTEP, they head on the road to face Alabama-Birmingham.
