Xfinity 500 Preview

After Kyle Busch grabbed his first checkered flag of the season on Wednesday at Texas, he looks to carry that momentum to the paperclip track known as Martinsville for the Xfinity 500 in the final race of the Round of 8.

However, although Busch collected the victory, it didn’t advance him in the NASCAR Cup playoffs as he had already been eliminated from championship contention in the Round of 12.

Currently there are three Fords and a Toyota in the top four that would be advancing to the final race at Phoenix. However, Brad Keselowski is on the bubble, holding a 25-point lead over Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott.

The NASCAR Cup Series visited Martinsville in June and Martin Truex Jr., who is seventh in the standings, won the race. He would jump into the finale if he can duplicate that performance this week.

Meanwhile, among the bubble drivers, Keselowski finished third at the earlier Martinsville race, two spots ahead of Elliott and three in front of Bowman. Joey Logano led the most laps with 234.
