Hamilton Triumphs in Mexico, Inches Closer to Title

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton moved ever closer to a sixth Formula 1 title with a win in Mexico and while it never looked in doubt, Ferrari's post-break surge is starting to make it mildly interesting.

Speaking of Ferrari, it was Charles Leclerc who took the pole and also drove the fastest lap for his efforts, but Hamilton's stellar driving, especially in avoiding an early collision, saw him through to secure the points.

Hamilton now has 363 points while teammate Valtteri Bottas, the only other driver who can mathematically take the title from him, is second with 289. It's just dotting the i's and crossing the t's for Hamilton and Mercedes at this point.

Three races remain and it's a short turnaround with the United States Grand Prix coming up this weekend from Austin, Texas. Hamilton was third here last year but won four straight races from 2014 to 2017.
