Tarleton State grabbed a 77-75 win over UTRGV on Saturday, behind a 18-point effort from KiAndre Gaddy at Wisdom Gymnasium.
Tarleton State won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -10.0-point spread.
Tarleton State got 17 points from Jakorie Smith and another 11 points from Emmanuel Innocenti. Devon Barnes contributed 5 assists, while KiAndre Gaddy cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
UTRGV got 23 points from Hasan Abdul-Hakim in a losing cause and another 16 points from Daylen Williams. Elijah Elliott contributed 4 assists for them, while Hasan Abdul-Hakim had 7 rebounds.
Tarleton State was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Tarleton State won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 35-28.
Tarleton State looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Hardin Simmons. UTRGV will aim to get back on the winning track at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
