Loyola Marymount Falls 65-55 to Santa Clara - Recap

Santa Clara grabbed a 65-55 win over Loyola Marymount on Thursday, behind a 15-point effort from Johnny O'Neil at Leavey Center.

Santa Clara earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -10.5-point spread.

Brenton Knapper had 15 points for Santa Clara and Camaron Tongue chipped in with 10 points. Christoph Tilly had 4 assists for them, while Johnny O'Neil was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 9 boards.

Loyola Marymount got 19 points from Justin Wright in a losing cause and another 14 points from Alex Merkviladze. Justin Wright contributed 2 assists for them, while Alex Merkviladze had 13 rebounds.

Santa Clara trailed at halftime, 32-29.

Santa Clara won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 40-30.
