Cougars Down USC 30-27 - Match Report

BYU earned a 30-27 victory over USC on Saturday in Week 3 action at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +4.5-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 57.5.

Ty'Son Williams rushed for 99 yards, while Emmanuel Esukpa added 14 yards in the win. Gunner Romney and Micah Simon added 54 and 48 receiving yards respectively.

Vavae Malepeai rushed for 96 yards for USC, while Markese Stepp added 53 yards. Kedon Slovis threw for 281 yards for the Trojans, while receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Tyler Vaughns had 95 and 65 yards respectively.

BYU lost the offensive yardage battle to USC 452-430 yards in Saturday's game. USC had more first downs as that total ended up 22-21.

The time of possession battle favored USC as their offense was on the field for 32:32, longer than the 27:28 of their opponents.

Next game, BYU takes its act home to face Washington looking for another win. For USC, they head home to face Utah.
