Georgia Southern Falls 35-32 to Golden Gophers - Recap

Tyler Johnson was good for 140 receiving yards on Saturday as the Golden Gophers grabbed a 35-32 win over the Eagles at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Golden Gophers earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -16.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 45.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.

Rodney Smith rushed for 57 yards, while Cam Wiley added 32 yards in the win. Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman added 140 and 52 receiving yards respectively.

Justin Tomlin rushed for 57 yards for Georgia Southern, while J.D. King added 35 yards. Justin Tomlin threw for 75 yards for the Eagles, while receivers Khaleb Hood and Mark Michaud had 39 and 27 yards respectively.

Georgia Southern lost the offensive yardage battle to Minnesota 382-198 yards in Saturday's game. Minnesota had more first downs as that total ended up 22-12.

The time of possession battle favored Minnesota as their offense was on the field for 37:55, longer than the 22:05 of their opponents.

Minnesota heads into a Week 5 battle against Purdue. Georgia Southern, meanwhile, will have their next action against Louisiana-Lafayette.
