Recap - Longhorns Defeat Rice 37-10

Texas cruised to victory on Saturday, as they ran up a 37-10 score against Rice in Week 1 action at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium/Jamail Field.

Texas won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -35.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 59.0.

Jaydon Blue rushed for 55 yards, while Jonathon Brooks added 52 yards in the win. Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington added 90 and 47 receiving yards respectively.

Dean Connors rushed for 23 yards for Rice, while Tre'Shon Devones added 6 yards. JT Daniels threw for 149 yards for the Owls, while receivers Braylen Walker and Boden Groen had 47 and 28 yards respectively.

Rice lost the offensive yardage battle to Texas 458-176 yards in Saturday's game. Texas had more first downs as that total ended up 24-8.

The time of possession battle favored Texas as their offense was on the field for 31:36, longer than the 28:24 of their opponents.

Next game, Texas takes its act on the road to face Alabama looking for another win. For Rice, they head home to face Houston.
