Cougars Fall 31-24 Against Texas - Game Recap

Texas earned a 31-24 victory over Houston on Saturday in Week 8 action at TDECU Stadium.

Texas won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -24.0-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 60.5.

Jonathon Brooks rushed for 99 yards, while CJ Baxter added 42 yards in the win. Xavier Worthy and Jonathon Brooks added 92 and 51 receiving yards respectively.

Parker Jenkins rushed for 23 yards for Houston, while Stacy Sneed added 5 yards. Donovan Smith threw for 378 yards for the Cougars, while receivers Joseph Manjack IV and Matthew Golden had 88 and 88 yards respectively.

Texas lost the offensive yardage battle to Houston 392-360 yards in Saturday's game. Houston had more first downs as that total ended up 20-19.

Houston lost the time of possession battle 31:58-28:02, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Texas looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against BYU. Houston will aim to get back on the winning track at Kansas State.
