Appalachian State Defeats Southern Miss 48-38 - Recap

Joey Aguilar was good for 391 yards through the air on Saturday as the Mountaineers got past the Golden Eagles by a score of 48-38 at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Appalachian State won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -15.0-point spread. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 56.0.

Joey Aguilar completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 391 yards for the Mountaineers in the win.

Frank Gore Jr. rushed for 247 yards for Southern Miss, while Kenyon Clay added 52 yards. Billy Wiles threw for 287 yards for the Golden Eagles, while receivers Tiaquelin Mims and Latreal Jones had 141 and 81 yards respectively.

Southern Miss outgained Appalachian State 588-571 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 33-24 by the Golden Eagles.

Southern Miss led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:14-26:46 split in that important category.

Appalachian State looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Marshall. Southern Miss will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Louisiana-Monroe.
